Resident Evil 9 Leak Hints at Early 2026 Release + Major Gameplay Changes

If the leaks are true (and they just might be), Resident Evil 9 could be crawling into our lives by Q1 of 2026. Yeah, that’s between Jan 1 and Mar 31, 2026. 👻

No official word from Capcom (typical), but leakers are doing their thing. The rumor mill is in overdrive, and fans are HYPED. This isn’t just another whisper — it’s got names backing it.

Who Leaked It? 🕵️

YT leaker ScreenFire Germany’s Andi spilled the beans, saying we’ll even get an official reveal during the Summer Game Fest (June 6 📅). And then came Dusk Golem (aka AestheticGamer), the OG Resident Evil leaker, saying:

“If Andi said it, I believe him.”
“He’s said things I know to be true before.”

So yeah... big W for credibility here.

What’s Cooking in RE9? 🧪

Apparently, RE9 is not just another sequel. It’s being pitched as a massive reinvention, the kind we saw with RE4 & RE7. Expect surprises, twists, and probably some new mechanics that’ll shake the horror genre up (again).

Dusk Golem even called it "huge" in terms of vision & changes. Capcom really wants to evolve the RE experience — which is 🔥.

Leon Might Be Back?! 🔫

Yup, some spicy rumors also suggest Leon S. Kennedy could be leading the story this time. Not confirmed, but imagine the vibes 😩

But Wait... No Open World?

Sad news tho — while there were earlier whispers about RE9 going full open-world, Dusk Golem says those plans have been scrapped. 💀

Apparently, Capcom tested an open-world multiplayer idea, but it didn’t work out. So, back to focused horror storytelling (which, honestly, might be a good thing).

TL;DR

  • 🎮 RE9 rumored to release Q1 2026

  • 📢 Official reveal might hit Summer Game Fest (June 6)

  • 👨‍🚀 Leon could be the protagonist

  • 🧠 Big reinvention in gameplay & vibe

  • ❌ Open world? Nah, got scrapped.

Verdict?

2026 gonna be spooky... and we're ready for it.
